About Valley Aeronautics
San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC)
San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) is located in southern California in the City of San Bernardino. The college is uniquely situated because within one hour of driving time you could be in Los Angeles, the San Bernardino Mountains, the beautiful Pacific coastal beaches or the desert.
The college has been offering Aeronautics courses for 60 years. In fact, Art Scholl was the Department Head of Aeronautics for a number of years in the late 1960's and early 1970's.
Programs
The College offers three areas of training - Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance (A & P), Flight Operations, and Airline Travel Careers. All of the courses are highly recommended by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), industry and the community. For California residents, courses are merely $26.00 per unit, making a degree or certificate very affordable.
Airframe and Powerplant Technology (A & P)
The first of the three areas is A & P Technology, which is FAA approved, where an Associate of Science Degree or certificate may be obtained. The program is two years in length. The approximate costs are about $2,400.00 for tuition, books, and oral and practical exams. Upon completion of the courses and exams, the student becomes an A & P Mechanic, which is honored anywhere in the world. The training given is of the highest quality and we have employers continually calling us for our graduates. See the program's page for details.
Flight Operations
The second area of expertise is Flight Operations, where an Associate of Science Degree is offered in Engineering Technology and an Associate of Science Degree and/or certificate is offered in Flight Operations and Management. The availability of this program is for students who are interested in flying careers or a directly related occupation. The college offers a Private Pilot Ground School, which is FAA approved. In addition to this, we also have available Instrument Training and Simulator courses, where students may fly link trainers in the classroom and actually log flight time. The college offers the training needed for written and oral tests. The actual flying time needed is accomplished outside the college at local airports of the student's choice. See the program's page for details.
Airline Travel Careers
The third area of expertise is in Airline Travel Careers. There are three certificates available - one is the Flight Certificate, which prepares students for careers such as Flight Attendant, Ticket Agent, Travel Agent and other related occupations. The second certificate is the Ground Certificate, which focuses on ground support occupations. The third certificate is the Travel certificate, which focuses on sales and business management in Airline Travel Careers. All of our instructors are currently working or have worked in the airline travel industry / aviation careers. Their experience and knowledge about the industry prepares the student for employment in a short period of time. The instructors help place students in jobs every semester. The cost of this program is minimal compared to outside schools. See the program's page for details.
