SBVC Baseball is swept out of the playoffs, losing 12-0

For the 25th consecutive season the Santa Ana Dons advanced to the second round of the state playoffs following their 12-0 win over SBVC in the California Community College Athletic Association Southern Regional Playoffs.

In their opening game of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern Regional Playoffs the Santa Ana Dons(31-7; 16-5) pulled off a 4-3 victory over SBVC (21-15-1; 16-8) behind two home runs by sophomore catcher Konnor Armijo.

SBVC Baseball claims Player of the Year & coaching honor

Baseball head coach Bill Mierzwik was named as the Howard Lowder Award winner for inspirational coaching performance in the Foothill Conference. An award bestowed upon Mierzwik after guiding SBVC to a second place finish, wrapping up their first playoff berth since 2005 and capturing his 500th coaching victory. Sophomore right handed pitcher and outfielder, Adam Quintana (San Bernardino San Gorgonio), was named the Foothill Conference Player of the Year and Gold Glove winner; in addition, four other players were named first team All-Conference.

SBVC (21-14-1; 16-8) made a late Foothill Conference push to get back into the post season for the first time since 2005, after sweeping the punch-less Lancaster Antelope Valley Marauders (14-20; 11-13), 15-2.

SBVC Baseball rallies late to punish the Panthers, 11-6

SBVC (16-12-1; 11-6) spent the first six innings playing uninspired baseball, then as if a key was turned and the ignition was fired, sending a five run 7th and a 4 run 8th, putting SBVC in the driver’s seat and stealing the Conference victory late over the Rancho Cucamonga Chaffey Panthers (17-14; 12-8), 11-6.

SBVC Baseball gets close, but can’t take game from Tartars, 12-8

SBVC (12-12-1) played a non-Conference game in the middle of the Foothill Conference slate and played a tough Compton Tartars (16-9) team very close, but could not hang on in the end, as SBVC fell, 12-8.

SBVC (12-11-1; 9-6) gave up an early run and then proceeded to pound the visiting Barstow Vikings (6-20; 4-14) for 15 runs on 17 hits. Since 1961, SBVC has an 89-4 record over the Vikings.

SBVC Baseball: Dauer elected to Orioles Hall of Fame

Former SBVC Baseball superstar and Colton high school alum, Rich Dauer was elected to the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame, the team announced Wednesday morning according to MLB.com. Dauer played all nine years of his professional career with the Orioles and wore number 25 most of his career there.
