SBVC Baseball has a hard time with Rio Hondo, 7-6

SBVC (22-10; 14-6) went into today’s game tied for first in the Foothill Conference, but a couple of fielding errors proved costly as the Whittier Rio Hondo Roadrunners (22-10; 15-5) took the game and first place with four games left in the regular season, 7-6.

SBVC (22-8; 14-4) avenged Thursday’s loss at Rancho Cucamonga by jumping on the Chaffey Panthers (15-15; 12-6) early and often, winning the season series 3 games to one, 11-3.

SBVC (20-6; 12-2) continued to hold their first place position in the Foothill Conference with a gutsy pitching performance by sophomore Anthony Carrizosa who tossed a complete game, seven hit shutout, with 12 strikeouts for his seventh victory of the season and knocking out the Palm Desert College of the Desert Roadrunners (4-23; 4-13), 3-0.

SBVC (16-6; 8-2) used a six run sixth inning and a dominant performance from freshman right handed starting pitcher Nick Przybylek (5-0) (Riverside Martin Luther King, Jr.) who tossed a three hit complete game shutout along with 13 strikeouts to grab his fifth victory of the year, remaining undefeated in a shutout victory over the Victorville Victor Valley Rams (5-20; 3-10), 7-0.

SBVC (15-6; 7-2) sophomore left fielder A.J. David (Anaheim Katella) took advantage of the very windy conditions and clobbered a homer the first and another in the sixth as SBVC held on late over the Ridgecrest Cerro Coso Coyotes (2-17; 2-7), 10-8.

SBVC (12-6; 4-2) maintained a strong lead backed up by a long relief appearance by freshman right handed pitcher Jeremy Moreno (Riverside Poly), but the Barstow Vikings (9-9; 4-2) picked up three runs in the top of the ninth and took the game, 4-3.

SBVC (12-5; 4-1) rolled into this afternoon’s contest on an eight game winning streak and took an early lead, but then let the lead and the game slip away late as the Whittier Rio Hondo Roadrunners (10-5; 4-1) moved into a tie for first in the Foothill Conference with a 9-4 win.
