Retired SBVC professor & noted historian Schmidt to toss out first pitch Thursday

Author of several books on the history of SBVC Athletics, Roger Schmidt, will be present this Thursday to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, opening up the 2015 season. The new season will begin versus the Sylmar L.A. Mission Eagles at 2 p.m.

SBVC Baseball (26-10) opens CCCAA SoCal Regionals on Fri 5/2 as the #11 seed and will travel to #6 seed Santa Barbara City (23-13). Santa Barbara finished 2nd in the Western State - North and SBVC finished tied with 2 other teams for the Foothill Conference title.

SBVC (25-10; 17-6) playing for their playoff lives in a three-way tie for first in the Foothill Conference salvaged one of their most impressive wins of the season in grand fashion, having to come from behind three separate times to secure a win over the Barstow Vikings (15-20; 10-13) in 14 innings, 8-7.

SBVC (22-10; 14-6) went into today’s game tied for first in the Foothill Conference, but a couple of fielding errors proved costly as the Whittier Rio Hondo Roadrunners (22-10; 15-5) took the game and first place with four games left in the regular season, 7-6.

SBVC (22-8; 14-4) avenged Thursday’s loss at Rancho Cucamonga by jumping on the Chaffey Panthers (15-15; 12-6) early and often, winning the season series 3 games to one, 11-3.

SBVC (21-7; 13-3) put some distance between themselves and the rest of the Foothill Conference with an offensive explosion in the fifth which blew open the rivalry game with the Rancho Cucamonga Chaffey Panthers (14-14; 11-5), 14-4.

SBVC Baseball rolls a 7-hit shutout of COD on 12 K’s, 3-0

SBVC (20-6; 12-2) continued to hold their first place position in the Foothill Conference with a gutsy pitching performance by sophomore Anthony Carrizosa who tossed a complete game, seven hit shutout, with 12 strikeouts for his seventh victory of the season and knocking out the Palm Desert College of the Desert Roadrunners (4-23; 4-13), 3-0.
