Women’s Basketball head coach Susan Crebbin was named to her third Foothill Conference Coach of the Year award. An award bestowed upon Crebbin after guiding SBVC to its fifth straight Women's Basketball Foothill Conference title and its first undefeated Conference record in school history at 14-0. Crebbin coached the most dominate defense in the state, ranking at the top for the entire season and finishing second at the close of the regular season, by only allowing an average of 49 points per game.
SBVC Women's Basketball secured the third seed in the Southern California Regional's and will host #14 Moorpark on Friday, February 24 at 7p.
SBVC Women’s Basketball team had two players named to the All-California team. Sophomore forward Darshae Burnside (San Bernardino Cajon), and sophomore guard April Fultz (Rialto Eisenhower), were awarded. Burnside was named Second team All-California and Fultz was named to the Third team. Fultz was an Honorable Mention for State Student Athlete of the Month for the month of January and last year Burnside was named to the Third team All-California.
The Moorpark Raiders arrive at Snyder Gymnasium with a record of 18-9. Their last game was on 2/18 at the VC Athletic Event Center versus Ventura, where the Raiders lost, 58-44. The Raiders started the season 7-3. The Raiders finished the 2011-12 season second in the Western State-North Division with a record of 10-2, with an overall record of 18-9. Moorpark entered the 2010-11 Southern California Quarter Finals as the fourteenth seed; losing to the number three seed at Mt. San Antonio, 71-59. Moorpark is coached by Lindsay Goldblatt.
San Bernardino Valley College is looking to continue their winning ways. Their last game was on 2/18 at Chaffey, where SBVC won, 69-59. SBVC started the season 8-2. SBVC won their fifth consecutive Foothill Conference title this season, with a record of 14-0, with an overall record of 26-3. SBVC entered the 2010-11 Southern California Quarter Finals as the second seed; defeating number fifteen seed Santa Barbara City at home, 51-46, then in the SoCal Semifinals, losing at home to number seven seed College of the Canyons, 69-67. San Bernardino Valley is coached by Susan Crebbin in her seventh year with SBVC.
SBVC is ranked 2nd in state for team defense, allowing an average of 49.1 points per game; whereas the Raiders are ranked 18th in state for team offense, averaging 54.8 points per game.
SBVC is ranked 25th in state for team offense, averaging 65.5 points per game; whereas the Raiders are ranked 33rd in state for team offense, averaging 63.1 points per game.
An SBVC victory on Friday over Moorpark will mean they will host a third round matchup versus either the #6 seed Fullerton or the #11 seed Mt. San Jacinto on Thursday, February 29, at either 5:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.
In accordance with bylaw 6.8.16D1 & 6.8.16D2 of the Constitution and Bylaws of the California Community College Athletic Association/Commission On Athletics (CCCAA/COA), the ticket prices are set by the CCCAA/COA, and according to section 8 of the bylaw all revenue produced by a Post-conference Competition is remanded to the CCCAA/COA.
