SBVC Football removes interim tag on Shipp

San Bernardino Valley College has just announced the re-designation of John Shipp from interim coach to full time faculty member and head football coach. The San Bernardino Community College District approved his hire as of July 1st.
SBVC Football: Gibbs & Young named 1st team All-State

San Bernardino Valley College Football sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Gibbs (Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos) and sophomore offensive tackle De’Arius Young (Cincinnati, OH Princeton) were both named Region IV All-California First Team Offense by the JC Athletic Bureau and the California Community College Football Coaches Association (CCCFCA).

Under first-year coach John Shipp, SBVC finished with a record 6-4 overall and 4-3 in conference. SBVC started the season 2-0, but lost three of the next four games in hard fought contests that could have gone either way and in the end, SBVC was just a game out of returning to a bowl game. As a reward for their winning record, the team was bestowed with two first team All-Mountain Conference honors and six second team All-Mountain Conference honors.

SBVC (6-4; 4-3) collected almost 500 yards of total offense, 300 yards were on the ground as they ran all over the Monterey Park East Los Angeles Huskies (3-7; 2-5), 42-14.
SBVC Football suffers frustrating loss to Jaguars, 46-44

SBVC (5-4; 3-3) needed a win on the road to hold onto a chance at a post season bowl berth, but three missed extra point opportunities and a blocked 27 yard field goal attempt as time expired doomed the frustrated visitors in a game at the Chula Vista Southwestern Jaguars (8-1; 5-1), 46-44.
SBVC Football scores lopsided victory over the Tartars, 68-7

SBVC (5-3; 3-2) put up over 500 yards in total offense, including 266 yards on the ground and 241 yards in the air as the home side put up 48 points in the first half alone, cruising to victory over the Compton Tartars (0-8; 0-5), 68-7.
SBVC Football: The Challenge Trophy returns and Homecoming is this Saturday

San Bernardino Valley College was presented with the SBVC-COD Challenge Trophy and they will also celebrate their 88th Homecoming game and Sophomore Night this Saturday versus Compton College with kick off scheduled for 6 p.m.
SBVC Football takes victory over the Olympians in triple OT thriller, 36-33

SBVC (4-3; 3-3) had their hands full all night with each side counterbalancing one another and at the end of regulation both teams were tied at 30-30, but SBVC collected their last bit of effort to get over the ledge and take the win in triple overtime versus the San Diego Mesa Olympians (2-5; 1-3), 36-33.

SBVC (3-3; 1-2) played a closer game than the score would indicate, only down three going into halftime 13-10, but a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter and another pair in the fourth put the game out of reach at the Victorville Victor Valley Rams (6-0; 3-0), 40-10.

SBVC (3-2; 1-1) got back onto the winning track in a big way, shattering a 63 year old record and taking back the Schukart Trophy for the first time since 2006, after knocking off the Palm Desert College of the Desert Roadrunners (2-3; 1-1), 45-23.
