Former SBVC quarterback Brad Sorensen was drafted by the San Diego Chargers on Saturday with the 221st overall pick.

Under fourth-year coach Kevin Emerson, SBVC finished with a record 6-4 overall and 5-2 in conference. SBVC struggled this season, at times when they should not have, but improved going into Conference play. This year was a season of change, but with promises of success for 2013.

SBVC (6-4; 5-2) had the improbable task of not losing to a winless team, and even though the score was considerably lopsided, the SBVC effort in the first half told a different story, as the visiting Compton Tartars (0-10; 0-7) held SBVC to only three first downs the entire first half, but eventually pulled out the victory, 35-12.

SBVC (5-4; 4-2) opened the game up well, going up 12-0 by the end of the first quarter, then both teams came back to Earth and while SBVC took a lead going into halftime, never recovered from a poor second half as the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles (8-1; 5-1) took the win, 37-27.

SBVC (5-3; 4-1) had their hands full at the San Diego Mesa Olympians (3-5; 2-3), each team matched one another with big plays all night, but SBVC had one too many big plays late and pulled off the win, 47-31.

SBVC (4-3; 3-1) took an early 21-0 lead and everyone held on to their seats as the Monterey Park East Los Angeles Huskies (4-3; 1-3) gave SBVC everything they had in a Homecoming shoot out for the ages, in which SBVC held on for the win, 54-42.

SBVC (3-3; 2-1) defeated the Rancho Cucamonga Chaffey Panthers (2-4; 1-2) for the first time since 1999, tying the overall head-to-head record at 38-38-4, in a pounding, 44-20.

SBVC (2-3; 1-1) built up a 42-13 lead at halftime then cruised to their first Mountain Conference victory of the season, mauling the Victorville Victor Valley Rams (1-4; 0-2), 49-34.
