SBVC (1-10) came into today’s double header versus the Los Angeles Pierce Brahmas (4-7) in need of a victory and were blasted in game one, 15-6, making a contest out of game two, but still falling, 14-10.
In game one, SBVC scored six runs on six hits and four errors, all while giving up 15 runs on 16 hits with two Brahmas errors. L.A. Pierce jumped on SBVC early, posting 8 runs in the top of the second, SBVC responded with a run in the bottom of the frame. Then the Brahmas added 4 more runs in the top of the third, giving them a 12-1 lead going into the bottom of the third. SBVC would add five runs in the bottom of the inning and that would be it for them, as the Brahmas added two more in the top of the fourth and another run in the top of the fifth to secure the victory.
Freshman starting right handed pitcher Lizzie Daniels (Redlands Arrowhead Christian) (1-6) threw all five innings, giving up 15 runs, five were earned, on 16 hits, walking five and striking out two. The Brahmas collected eight stolen bases in eight attempts on the afternoon. Freshman catcher Shurishaddai Cardwell (Redlands H.S.) went 3 for 4 with a run batted in and sophomore right fielder Brittney Kanady (San Bernardino Cajon) went 1 for 3 with three RBI’s in the loss.
In game two, SBVC scored ten runs on twelve hits and three errors, while giving up 14 runs on twelve hits with three Brahmas errors. Once again, the Brahmas jumped out to an early lead, but SBVC tied the game in the bottom of the first at 2-2. Then L.A. Pierce pounced, scoring seven runs in the top of the second to go up 9-2, they added a run in the top of the third to go up 10-2. SBVC would respond with two more in the bottom of the third, and the Brahmas added two more in the top of the fourth, making the score 12-4. SBVC would not take this game lying down, and slugged their way back into the game pushing three runs across the plate in the bottom of the fourth, while the sun was setting, the Brahmas added two more in the top of the fifth and SBVC settled for three in the bottom of the fifth.
Freshman starting right handed pitcher Keyasha Bluitt (San Bernardino H.S.) (0-2) threw all five innings, giving up 14 runs, twelve were earned, on twelve hits, walking ten and striking out three. Bluitt also tossed four wild pitches and hit three batters. The Brahmas collected four stolen bases on four attempts on the afternoon. Freshman second baseman Cynthia Baltimore (San Bernardino Pacific) had an impressive day at the plate, going 3 for 3 with four RBI’s and a run scored. Freshman third baseman Lizzie Daniels (Arrowhead Christian) went 3 for 4 with three RBI’s and two runs scored. Kanady went 2 for 3 with two runs scored in the loss.
