SBVC Women’s and Men’s Track and Field teams will send four men and a woman to the state finals at American River College in Sacramento this weekend.
Sophomore middle distance runner Dewayne Booker (San Bernardino H.S.) qualified fifth in the state in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.14. 800 meters is equal to twice around a normal track surface.
Sophomore distance runner Raymond Dominguez (Menifee Paloma Valley) qualified fourth in the state in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:53.92. 10,000 meters is equal to 6.214 miles.
Sophomore distance runner Travis Nemchik (Menifee Paloma Valley) qualified first in the state in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:21.73. During the 3000 meter steeplechase, each runner must run the course 7 times, clearing a total of 28 ordinary barriers and seven water jumps throughout the entirety of the race.
Freshman distance runner Jonathan Lopez (Eastvale Eleanor Roosevelt) qualified eighth in the state in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:06.73. 5,000 meters is equal to 3.1 miles.
Sophomore sprinter Francis Wright (San Bernardino San Gorgonio) qualified as the first alternate for the Women's 100 meter dash.
