Neil C. Slawson, Sr. Coordinator
SBVC Extended Basic Academy
1998 to present
Neil has been on the Tactical Staff at this Police Academy since 1998, starting as a Tactical Officer in June of '98, being promoted to Academy Coordinator in October '98.
Neil has been employed with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department since 1998. Neil is assigned to Headquarters as the Team Leader of the Crime Analysis Unit.
Neil began his law enforcement career in 1985 as an Officer with the Claremont Colleges Department of Public Safety. In 1987, Neil enrolled in the Riverside Sheriff's Basic Academy in Riverside, California. Neil graduated ranked #1 in his class of 36 graduating students and received the Top Academic Achievement Award.
Neil joined the Montclair Police Department in 1987 and soon thereafter joined the Coachella Police Department in 1989. Within 8 months, Neil was assigned to the Traffic Division and was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant in 1992.
Neil's assignments as a sergeant ranged from the Patrol Bureau, Training Bureau, Traffic Division, Internal Affairs, to the Office of Special Investigations (OSI). During his career, Neil has testified as an expert in court in Traffic Accident Reconstruction and the Illegal Packaging & Transportation of Controlled Substances. Neil has previously been involved in POST Perishable Skills sub-committees as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Glenn Alfaro, Tactical Officer
SBVC Extended Basic Academy
2002 to present
Glenn has been on the Tactical Staff at this Police Academy as a Tactical Officer since 2002. Glenn has been involved in instructing our academy students in Firearms since 1996.
Glenn has been with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department for the past 23 years. Currently, he is a Corporal assigned to the Basic Academy at Glen Helen. Recently, Glenn was assigned to the Background Investigations Unit at Headquarters as an Investigator. Prior to this, he was assigned to the Narcotics/SWAT team. He holds instructor certification in the following areas, Chemical Agents, Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Less Lethal Munitions, Lateral Vascular Neck restraint, Long Guns.
Glenn started his law enforcement career in 1980 as a Jailer with the Pomona Police Department.
Glenn is also a certified armorer for Glock, H&K, Sig Sauer, Ruger and Remington 870. He also holds instructor certification for Advanced Tasers M-26, Jaycor Pepper Ball Systems and Simunition Force on Force training. He was responsible for curriculum development and presentation in the listed areas.
Regular audiences attending his instruction were the Basic & Reserve Academy, SWAT team, Mobile Field Force, outside Agencies and Department members for in-service training. He was previously on three California POST sub-committees for Firearms/Chemical Agents and Force Options Training and Arrest & Control as a "SME."

Horace Boatwright, Tactical Officer
SBVC Extended Basic Academy
2003 to present
Horace has been on the Tactical Staff at this Police Academy as a Tactical Officer since 2003. Horace has been involved in instructing our academy students in Hate Crimes since 2002.
Sergeant Horace Boatwright has been with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department the past 18 years. During his tenure with the department he has worked Corrections, Patrol, Transportation Unit, Public Affairs and Central Station Detectives.
Sergeant Boatwright is currently assigned to the City of Rancho Cucamonga as a Patrol Sergeant in the Contract City.
Horace served eight years in the United States Air Force where he was an Aircraft Weapons Loading Inspector. He trained crew personnel on procedures for loading munitions on the F-4 Fighter Aircraft. He also was responsible for managing and maintaining the squadron's course/curriculum development program.
He has earned certificates of training in Instructional Systems Designer, Training Technician and Audiovisual Methods. Horace has developed numerous training and audiovisual programs for use by the United States Air Force.
Horace serves as board member of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Athletic Federation and a member of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Honor Guard. He is a past Event Director for the 2000 Police and Fire Olympic Games and Inland Empire Black Peace Officer of The Year.
