Men's & Women's Track & Field: Amador, Burley, Carter, and Rene sign letters of intent

Sophomore Sprinters Jason Amador, Michelle Burley, Jessica Carter, and Melissa Rene sign letters of intent.

Sophomores Rene (Riverside Norte Vista), Burley (Rialto Eisenhower), and Carter (New Orleans Abramson) finished 4^th in the state finals in the Women’s 4X400 Meter Relay with the time of 3:53:93.

Rene, who will be attending Chico State, won Foothill Conference titles in the Women’s 200 Meter Dash, and as a member of the Women’s 4x100 Meter Relay Team and the Women’s 4x400 Meter Relay Team.

Burley, who will be attending Chico State, won Foothill Conference titles in the Women’s 400 Meter Dash, and as a member of the Women’s 4x100 Meter Relay Team and the Women’s 4x400 Meter Relay Team.

Carter, who will be attending Chico State, won Foothill Conference titles as a member of the Women’s 4x100 Meter Relay Team and the Women’s 4x400 Meter Relay Team.

Jason Amador (San Bernardino), who will be attending Oklahoma City University, finished 4^th in the state finals in the Men’s 800 Meter Run. Amador won a Foothill Conference title in the Men’s 800 Meter Run.

Carter, Burley, and Rene ran for the Women’s Cross Country team in the fall and Amador played Football playing in 9 games, making 12 receptions for 146 yards and one touchdown.

Men's & Women's Track & Field: State Finals Results
May 18, 2009

San Bernardino Valley College sent 9 student- athletes to the California Community College Athletic Association Track and Field Championship at College of San Mateo. SBVC Men’s team finished 7^th, while the Women’s team finished 30^th.

Women who ran in the state finals included: Sophomores Melissa Rene (Riverside Norte Vista), Michelle Burley (Rialto Eisenhower), Jessica Carter (New Orleans Abramson), and freshmen DaQuvia Winslett (San Bernardino San Gorgonio) that finished 4^th in the Women’s 4X400 Meter Relay with the time of 3:53:93.

Men who ran in the state finals included: Sophomore Carlos Perez (Barstow) won the state championship in the Men’s 1500 Meter Run and competed in the Men’s 5000 Meter Run. Freshmen Jason Amador (San Bernardino) that finished 4^th in the Men’s 800 Meter Run. Sophomore Matthew Sartori (Redlands East Valley) who finished 5^th in the Men’s 5000 Meter Run and finished 2^nd in the Men’s 10000 Meter Run. Sophomore Kameron Ulmer (San Bernardino Cajon) had taken 5^th in the Men’s 10000 Meter Run. Sophomore Ronell El-Amin (San Bernardino) finished 5^th in the Men’s 1500 Meter Run.

SBVC Men’s & Women’s Track & Field: Conference Champions and SoCal Prelims

San Bernardino Valley College will be sending 19 student athletes to the Southern California Prelims at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut this Saturday after finishing in the top 6 at the Foothill / Pacific Coast Conference Finals on April 24. SBVC collected Conference titles in 7 events.

Women who won Conference titles include: Sophomore Melissa Rene (Riverside Norte Vista) in the Women’s 200 Meter Dash; Sophomore Michelle Burley (Rialto Eisenhower) in the Women’s 400 Meter Dash; the Women’s 4x100 Meter Relay Team and the Women’s 4x400 Meter Relay Team. The relay teams included: Melissa Rene, Michelle Burley, sophomore Jessica Carter (New Orleans Abramson), and freshman DaQuvia Winslett (San Bernardino San Gorgonio).

The remaining 9 events that SBVC will be participating in, are the Women’s 100 Meter Dash, the Women’s 400 Meter Hurdles, the Women’s Discus Throw, the Women’s Heptathlon, the Men’s 400 Meter Dash, the Men’s 500 Meter Run, the Men’s 400 Meter Hurdles, the Men’s 3000 Meter Steeplechase, and the Men’s 4x400 Meter Relay.

This list will have the all the top Track & Field finishers from SBVC, those in the top six move onto the SoCal Championship Prelims at Mt. SAC on May 2nd. 1^st Place finishers are Foothill Conference Champions. Asterisks (*) indicate an event that SBVC had a first place finisher.
