Two new full time faculty added

This year we welcome two new full time
Physical Education faculty members,
Kevin Emerson and John Banola. Emerson
will be coaching various PE classes as
well as managing the duties of being the
head football coach. Banola will be
running the
adapted physical education classes.

retired

Kenpo
Karate instructor Rudy Corrales is
published in Masters Magazine

SBVC's own, adjunct
Kenpo Karate instructor Rudy Corrales,
had an article published in the Summer
2008 issue of Masters Magazine. Masters
Magazine is a Martial Arts magazine
which is published four times a year.
Corrales interviewed the oldest Kenpo
Karate Black Belt in the world, 76 year
old, Chuck Sullivan of Seal Beach,
California; Sullivan is a
7th degree Black Belt in Kenpo.
According to Corrales' biography in
Masters Magazine, Corrales has a
Master's Degree in Criminal Justice. He
is an adjunct instructor at SBVC
teaching for the Department of Criminal
Justice as well as PE. He developed for
the college the first ever Kenpo Karate
course for credit. In addition, he has
worked for 21 years as a Law Enforcement
officer supervising high-risk offenders
released on parole and he is a certified
defensive tactics instructor. As a
youth, he trained in the art of Lima
Lama boxing, and in his twenties, Shito
Ryu Karate. In 1999, he started training
with the International Karate Connection
Association and is a personal student of
Kenpo Master, Chuck Sullivan.
