LVN
to RN Degree Program
The
Nursing Department offers a program to assist Licensed Vocational Nurses
become Registered Nurses. Students earn an Associate of Science degree
with a major in nursing. The program is fully accredited by the
California State Board of Registered Nursing.
Students may choose to take the regular RN program (see RN information
section) or the LVN to RN Degree program Students must complete
prerequisites, apply, and be accepted into the LVN to RN Degree Program.
Students are admitted once a year in the spring semester beginning in
February. Submit application (see below) and required documents listed
on application form by December 1. All prerequisites must be completed
or in-progress when the application is submitted. A schedule of
Information Meetings is available at the Health Science Division office,
HLS 101, or on-line.

Note:
A
background check and health requirements must be completed before
enrollment in the program. California may deny Registered Nurse
license to an applicant based on a conviction or legal action
substantially related to nursing practice.

Prerequisites

California LVN license
-
Proof
of High School completion (transcript or diploma, or GED or
Calif. H.S. proficiency score)

One
year full-time work experience as an LVN (submit list of
employer(s), patient care unit type, starting and ending dates)

Freshman Composition, ENGL 101 with a grade of C or higher
-
Intermediate College Algebra, MATH 095 with a grade of C or
higher
(or higher level math course)
-

Science Courses, each with a grade of C or higher and a minimum
G.P.A. of 2.75 in the four courses:

- BIOL 270 has prerequisites of BIOL 250 or BIOL 260 or BIOL 261 and
CHEM 101
