EXTENDED OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM AND SERVICES (EOP&S)

EOP&S program's primary goal is to encourage the enrollment, retention and transfer of students handicapped by language, social, economic and educational disadvantages, and to facilitate the successful completion of their goals and objectives in college. EOP&S offers academic and support counseling, financial aid and other support.

It is important to know that EOP&S is optional, and not a mandatory program offered by the state chancellor's office. It is a state funded program that was formatted in 1969. The program follows the Title V guidelines provided by the California Community College Chancellor's office.


To be ELIGIBLE, student must:

  • Be a California resident
  • Be enrolled as a full time student (12 +)
  • Have fewer than 70 degree applicable units
  • Qualify to receive California Board of Governor's Fee Waiver A or B (BOG-FW)
  • Educationally disadvantaged as defined by EOP&S

Educationally Disadvantaged
EOP&S defines educational disadvantages as:

  • Assessment test scores (Math 942/952, English 914)
  • Do not have high school diploma, GED or H.S. proficiency
  • High school GPA below 2.5 (submit high school transcript)
  • Previously enrolled in remedial education (H.S. or college)
  • First generation college student (parents did not obtain a bachelor's degree)
  • Emancipated Foster Youths
  • Parents are not native English speakers

To be APPROVED for EOP&S

  • Complete an Application
  • Attend Orientation
  • Turn in ALL necessary documents
    • Test scores, if applicable
    • Class printout (official copy from admissions)
    • Transcripts (high school or colleges, if applicable)
    • Letter from Disabled Students Program & Services for less than 12 units
